Practicing ski touring implies the ability to plan and carry out a route on your own, safely. For this reason, abilities to read and interpret undergoing snow conditions and assess the state of the terrain when in motion are required, as well as adapting your behaviour so as to properly evaluate the degree of risk exposure.
It is recommended that you always read the snow and avalanche bulletin, plan your outing according to the information contained therein and that you are able to compare this with any assessment and evaluation carried out independently, along the route you want to undertake.
When the avalanche danger forecast is 3 – considerable – and even more so when it is 4 – high, touring possibilities are limited and strongly limited: it is thus necessary to possess the adequate skills to evaluate the route, in particular as far as snowpack conditions and terrain morphology assessments are concerned. You must be able to come to the appropriate decision, both individually and as a group.
On a snowy terrain you will hardly find a single track, since this can vary according to the quantity and quality of the snow itself. Although all the tracks that can be downloaded from the Gulliver platform, contained in the APP, have been sourced bearing the utmost attention, they do not indicate the only possible route, but they represent one of the many instruments that technology puts at our disposal to view the suggested itineraries online.
GPS tracks aim at enriching the route descriptions, but they do not replace the knowledge of the place, under no circumstances, nor the orienteering skills required to plan the outing, also considering environment, snow and physical conditions of the skiers.
For this reason, GPS tracks are to be merely considered as additional information and a subsidiary part of route descriptions.
Users choose to use GPS tracks found on the website and the APP at their complete and absolute responsibility.
Under no circumstances, we shall be responsible for GPS tracks available for download on the website, nor for any damage that may occur to users and/or third parties by using them; we would be grateful if you could inform us of any mistake you may notice.
We therefore advise you to carefully plan the route, constantly assessing snow and terrain conditions along it, adapting your behaviour according to the detected or foreseen setting, turning back if safety conditions are not in place. If you are not an expert, we advise you to contact a certified mountain guide.
With an avalanche risk of 5 – very high – ski touring activities are not usually possible.
